Public Transport Users Association Geelong Branch secretary Paul Westcott has welcomed the increase in bus services to Torquay and the Bellarine Peninsula, and the move to a consistent pattern of more-or-less hourly services.
“However timetables are still complicated and off-putting to potential new users,” he said. “Now that the increased services have been provided, the PTUA advocates simplifying bus routes to make services more direct and understandable, cutting out meandering deviations and loops which also add to people’s travel times”.
The PTUA’s petition for better public transport services for Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula is being very well supported. Dozens of signatures have already been collected by PTUA volunteers at City bus stops and other venues. Copies of the petition can be downloaded from the PTUA website, or obtained from the Geelong Branch.
